Triathalon

I have been getting tired of just running, so I decided to try a triathlon.  And Its so much more fun with a big group so we all talked each other into doing the South Davis Splash and Sprint.  It was an awesome race, very well organized and put together.  I put a lot of time into training for this race, for 12 weeks I would get up twice a week and go swimming at 4:30 A.M.!  I wanted to be prepared :)  Me and Kristy went on a lot of bike rides together, and Vanessa, Kristy and Me all did a trial run the week before.  When race day came I felt really good.

The whole group, too bad the weather didn't cooperate too well for us.  What an amazing bunch of ladies that I love dearly

My Awesome sisters that let me talk them into this craziness
Vanessa was the last one to agree to do this and she still wasn't sure why she did it until she was finished!  Glad she did it, we all had fun
Set up and ready to go!  So glad I got to compete with these amazing athletes

So from the start, waited in line to jump in for 20 minutes I believe.  It was so fun to watch all the fast swimmers ahead of us.  For the swim we had to swim down one lane cross under the rope and swim down that lane it was kinda annoying.  Especially when people thought they swim faster than they do and you got all bunched up trying to get under the rope.  I never really felt tired while I swam which was a good thing.  I climbed out and ran to my transition, I was in such a hurry I didn't wipe all the rocks off my feet or even dry them for that matter.  With all the time I had to prep I forgot to untie my laces oops.  While in my rush I also forgot to grab my shirt and put it on, haha it was a bit chilly but not bad.  Ran with my bike out hopped on and was out of there.  I was so glad I went to the bike ride preview the week before, it was so nice knowing the course already and when the hills were coming and everything else.  I would highly recommend that for anyone doing their first tri.  My legs felt a little tired on the ride, me and this other rider play leap frog the whole way.  Came in from my ride threw my shirt on and I was off.  The run was the longest 3 miles of my life!  It was so boring, and my legs were tired.  But finally I finished!  I was so happy with my results and to find out that I had taken 1st in my age group!  I can't wait until the next one, I really want to get a road bike now.  I for sure couldn't have done this though without some amazing people.  I will give a shout out to Jeremy, for his encouragement and doing the hard job of watching the kids while I trained.  My friend Neisha for also watching my kids while I went on many bike rides.  My friend Sueann for helping me with my swimming and letting me borrow her road bike many times.  And the last shout out to all the cheerleaders along the way, thank you for your support!
